Welcome to the Virtual Teaching and Learning Collective (V-TLC). The V-TLC is a regional partnership between California State University Channel Islands (CSU Channel Islands), and Ventura County Community College District (Moorpark College, Oxnard College, and Ventura College), and Santa Barbara City College. The colleges in this regional partnership are aligning their collective efforts toward culminating degrees for students.
The V-TLC has been developed through Project ALAS (Aligning Learning and Academic Success), a Title V Federally funded cooperative grant with CSU Channel Islands and the Ventura County Community College District. The overarching goals of Project ALAS are to strengthen between institutions the:
- Transfer readiness of students.
- Alignment of academic curriculum and student services.
- Teaching and learning culture at all the participating institutions.
Project ALAS supports faculty and student development, allowing faculty to share and align class experiences and high-impact teaching practices to better prepare students for transfer and graduation. In addition, Project ALAS expands CSU Channel Islands’ capacity for transfer student services, including targeted outreach, advising and peer mentoring, and to improve and streamline articulation and records systems. The Virtual Teaching and Leaning Collective includes resources for faculty and students to exchange information to support the seamless transition of students from the regional community colleges to CSU Channel Islands and other colleges offering baccalaureate degrees.
